AROUND THE NATION; 8th Grader Kills Youth, Then Himself at School

An eighth grader armed with two pistols opened fire in a junior high school study hall today, killing one student and wounding one, before shooting himself, the police said.

The shooting erupted shortly before noon at Parkway South Junior High. The armed youth was identified by the police as David F. Lawler, 14 years old. Randell A. Koger, 15, died of his wounds in a hospial. Greg Palmer, 15, was reported in serious condition with a wound in the chest. All three were in the eighth grade.

A detective said the Lawler youth and the Koger boy had argued over a pen.
